Our Sustainability Approach
In our opinion, sustainability is much more than the protection of the environment, forests, water, soil and natural resources today.
Problem; the continuation of life and how we can do this in a balance without exploiting, destroying and destroying it while continuing to meet our needs within the limits of nature in the future.
Sustainability is like a three-legged chair, if one leg breaks, you fall…!
Let’s define the legs of the chair; Ecological leg, social-social leg and economic leg.
An example for the ecological leg;
A coal power plant provides commercial gains, creates employment, but the flue gases that it vomits from its chimneys pierce the ozone layer … the ecological leg of the chair breaks, you fall …
An example for the social foot;
Today, bio-cotton production in Africa is ecologically meaningful and ensures the production of textile products at good prices and good quality, but producers are forced to settle for very low prices… The phrase bio is incompatible with honesty…! The social leg of the chair is broken, you fall …
An example for the economic leg;
An agribusiness produces high standards of food for good agriculture and pays workers twice the minimum wage at harvest time. But nobody can pay 5- dollars per kilo of pumpkin produced…!
The economic leg of the chair breaks, you fall …
As it can be understood from this simple example, in order to ensure sustainability in a society, the balances in the ecosystem, economy and social areas must be well established.
The purpose of sustainable development is to protect the long-term value of the environment and nature while maintaining economic and social development.
NOVARIS Sustainable environment and Energy systems use this principle as a direction compass.
